1 this process activates entrapped plasminogen and converts it to plasmin, which then initiates local fibrinolysis, causing the clot to break up. And when introduced into the systemic circulation, actilyse binds to fibrin in a thrombus and converts the entrapped plasminogen to plasmin. Mi patient in whom treatment can be started w/in 6 hr after symptom onset initially 15 mg iv bolus then 50 mg iv infusion over the 1st 30 min, followed by 35 mg infusion over 60 min until max of 100 mg.

Activase (alteplase) is an enzyme, which works to break up and dissolve blood clots that can block arteries, used in the treatment of an acute heart attack or pulmonary embolism. Actilyse is indicated for fibrinolytic treatment of acute ischaemic stroke, acute myocardial infarction, acute massive pulmonary embolism and occluded catheters. Alteplase is the same as the normal human plasminogen activator produced in vascular endothelial cells and is synthesized via recombinant dna technology in chinese hamster ovary cells (cho).
